Yongma Land

You either avoid going to an abandoned place hoping to not experience the haunting stories surrounding it or go to that place for the reason of testing your sixth sense and experiencing those ghostly stories yourself.

On that note, however, Yongma Land–an abandoned amusement park in Jungnang district, Seoul–has become a popular destination for fans and professionals alike not for its haunting tales, but instead its haunting beauty that can really give you a good filming subject.

Yongma Land opened in 1980 as a small, family-friendly amusement park. It became a local favorite during it’s first decade. However, after other amusement parks opened and became more popular, most people coming to this amusement park lost interest in it.

The park officially ceased operating in 2011 and though it is no longer open now for the same purpose, the seemingly 80s old school look it has and its unique, haunting dilapidated atmosphere continue to attract visitors–fans, amateurs and professionals–that wants to capture its beauty in pictures and films.

One thing that attracts visitors to Yongma Land is the fact it has become a really popular filming location for dramas, photo shoots and also K-Pop music videos that gets millions of views per day. To name some of the idol groups that had been there, EXO, GOT7, BTS, Red Velvet, Highlight, BAP, TWICE, Crayon Pop and IU had already filmed here.

That said, I’m sure that fans like me would definitely make sure to put this on their bucket list to one day cross it out!
